List of Countries with Most Happy People. Indonesia Rating What?

Last week, the UN released a "List of World Happiness". And although the top-ranking countries are rich countries, those gathered in the UN summit in New York said that rich countries are not necessarily happy.

Meeting to launch the report first coined by Bhutan, a small Himalayan state that 30 years ago made a study to look for Gross National Happiness country.

According to Time magazine, Prime Minister of Bhutan Lyonchhen Jigmi Y. Thinley, encouraging other countries to do the same thing.

"The goal of development is to create favorable conditions through public policy, to pursue the ultimate goal of the happiness of all citizens," he said in the conference.

Economist Jeffery Sachs, who edited the report says the World Happiness happiness can be achieved from the economic welfare as measured by GNP.

"GNP (Gross National Product / Gross Domestic Product) by itself does not equal happiness," she said at the conference, according to Time.

"The U.S. has experienced a threefold increase in GNP per capita since 1960, but did not move the needle of happiness. Other countries have been pursuing with far greater benefits in terms of happiness, even at the level of income per capita is much lower."

The report noted that social factors such as the strength of social support, absence of corruption, and the degree of personal freedom, is more important than wealth.

Also there are a number of suggestions for the government to increase the happiness of the community, including helping to meet their basic needs, strengthening the social system, implement active employment policies, limiting the scale of greenhouse gas emissions, improve mental health services, improve physical health, and helps resist hyper- commercialism.

United States is ranked 11, while the UK is in position 18. The position of the youngest, ie 156, occupied by Togo.

And what about Indonesia? Our country is in position number 83, far behind Myanmar (ranked 74), Thailand (ranked 52), Malaysia (rank 51), and Singapore is the happiest country in Southeast Asia with a rating of 33.
