Manchester
United and defending champions Chelsea sedikti smiled upon completion
of the Champions League draw on Thursday, but the Manchester City find
themselves in a scary group with Real Madrid, Ajax and Borussia
Dortmund.
Chelsea,
who beat Bayern Munich on penalties in last season's final to claim the
trophy the first time, were drawn in Group E alongside Italian
champions Juventus, Shakhtar Donetsk, and debutant Danish Nordsjaelland.
Juventus
will appear in the Champions League for the first time since the
2009-10 season and are likely to present the strongest rival to Roberto
Di Matteo's squad.
Manchester
United find themselves in the mild group in Group H, along with the
Portuguese club SC Braga, Turkish club Galatasaray, and Romanian club
CFR Cluj, after the draw in Monaco.
However,
manager Sir Alex Ferguson will not need reminding that it is almost the
same group - containing Benfica, FC Basel and Cluj domestic rivals
Otelul Gelati - the three-time champions failed to qualify last season.
Manchester United, beaten 3-1 by Barcelona in the final of 2011, a record 18 times playing in the group phase.
As
in 2011, the final season will also take place at Wembley Stadium,

group phase, and their fourth representative, Arsenal, will face
Schalke, Olympiakos, and debutants Montpellier, French champions in
Group B.
There
is one other new entrants are in the draw Malaga, who escaped by
overcoming Panathinaikos in the play-off earlier this week.
The
Spanish club is in Group C along with Zenit Saint Petersburg,
Anderlecht, and the seven-time champions AC Milan, who will be relieved
to avoid the more difficult after a summer in which they lost their
leading players.
Barcelona,
finalists in two of the last four seasons, are in Group G, where they
will join former champions Benfica and Celtic and Spartak Moscow.

Last
season's finalists Bayern Munich are placed in Group F along with
