Israel has asked the United States (U.S.) gave the re-charger airplane fuel and bunker hunter sophisticated bombs that can improve its ability to attack Iran's underground nuclear site, an official said Israel, Thursday (8/3) as reported by Reuters and the Reuters on Friday (9/3).
"That kind of demand was made" during the visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Washington this week, the official said, while confirming media reports. But officials say it is underestimated and it is not realistic that the U.S. would provide the conditions for the supply of hardware.
Washington is rumored to be asking Israel promised that the Jewish state would not attack Iran this year. White House spokesman, Jay Carney, said no agreement had been proposed or reached in the meeting with Netanyahu President Barack Obama or his aides.
A front page article in the Israeli daily, Ma'ariv, said Obama had told Netanyahu that Washington will supply Israel with military equipment. In return the U.S. sought assurances there would be no attack on Iran in 2012.
Israel has a limited storage bunker bomb hunters of smaller and older as well as a small fleet of refueling aircraft, all supplied by Washington. Western nations suspect Iran's uranium enrichment program aimed at stockpiling of fissile material for nuclear weapons. Iran insists the program is solely for civilian energy.
